Command to love

KeKristenan seringkali digambarkan dengan satu kata, KASIH

"Kasihilah Tuhan Allahmu, dengan segenap hatimu dan dengan segenap jiwamu dan dengan segenap akal budimu.....Kasihilah sesamamu manusia seperti dirimu sendiri" (Hukum kasih -- Matius 22: 37, 39)

"Demikianlah tinggal ketiga hal ini, yaitu iman, pengharapan dan kasih, dan yang paling besar di antaranya ialah kasih" (1 Korintus 13:13)

"...tetapi jika aku tidak mempunyai kasih, aku sama dengan gong yang berkumandang dan canang yang gemerincing" (1 Korintus 13:1) 

"Tetapi Aku berkata kepadamu: Kasihilah musuhmu dan berdoalah bagi mereka yang menganiaya kamu." (Matius 5:44)

dan masih banyak lagi ayat-ayat yang menekankan pentingnya kasih dalam hidup kita.
Kasih yang bagaimana, sebatas apa ?

Sebelum kita berbicara lebih jauh, mari kita lihat "jenis-jenis" kasih itu:

* Eros	Kasih yang timbul karena sifat biologis manusia, perasaan romantis, ataupun perasaan intim yang seringkali didasarkan atas (maaf) nafsu.
* Storge	Kasih yang timbul dari hubungan relasi/persaudaraan/keluarga.
* Phileo	Kasih yang timbul dari suatu relasi atas dasar kecocokan. Misal perasaan kasih (oops...lebih cocok menggunakan kata sayang) antar teman, sahabat yang telah "cocok" sifatnya antara satu dengan yang lain.
* Agape	Kasih yang tulus, murni, timbul tanpa alasan.

Sebagai "panglima utama", Allah sudah terlebih dahulu menunjukkan jenis kasih yang Ia ingin kita pun miliki dan kita bagikan kepada SEMUA (yeah...semua, termasuk musuh !!!). Kasih AGAPE, kasih yang diberikan tanpa alasan.

Merujuk pada Yohanes 3:16, tertulis "...supaya setiap orang yang percaya kepadaNya..."
Dengan amat jelas [setiap orang --> "whoever" (Inggris-NIV), whosoever (Inggris-KJV), 叫一切 (Mandarin)], bukan hanya kepada orang yang hidup pada jaman itu, kepada orang berusia tertentu, berbangsa tertentu, dsb. SEMUANYA!!!

Tidak mudah, jelas tidak mudah. Kita sebagai manusia yang masih hidup dalam kedagingan, seringkali membutuhkan alasan untuk melakukan sesuatu, termasuk mengasihi. Entah itu (maaf) hawa nafsu kita, hubungan darah, ataupun karena kita "cocok" dengan orang itu.

Simon Petrus sendiri tidak mampu menjawab pertanyaan Yesus dengan jawaban "Agape", sehingga pada pertanyaan ketiga, Yesus mengganti pertanyaanNya dan membuat Simon bersedih.

(Yohanes 21:15-17 -- diaransemen ulang) :
Yesus: Simon anak Yohanes apakah engkau mengasihi (Agape) Aku ?
Simon: Benar Tuhan, Engkau tahu bahwa aku mengasihi (Phileo) Engkau ?
Yesus: Simon anak Yohanes apakah engkau mengasihi (Agape) Aku ?
Simon: Benar Tuhan, Engkau tahu bahwa aku mengasihi (Phileo) Engkau ?
Yesus: Simon anak Yohanes apakah engkau mengasihi (Phileo) Aku ?
Simon: Benar Tuhan, Engkau tahu bahwa aku mengasihi (Phileo) Engkau ?

Terlepas dari bisa/tidaknya kita, saya rasa yang terpenting adalah mau/tidaknya kita untuk memberikan Agape kepada SEMUA orang. Bila Allah menghendaki kita untuk melakukannya, tentu saja Allah akan memampukan kita untuk melakukan hal tersebut. So...buang semua alasan-alasan untuk tidak mengasihi siapapun juga, termasuk haizz...yeah...musuh kita =)

Bukti kasih kita kepada Allah adalah ketaatan kita terhadap perintah-perintah Tuhan (Our Daily Bread 11.03.2012)

Christianity is often described with one word, LOVE
 

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind......Love your neighbor as yourself" (Law of Love -- Matthew 22: 37, 39 NIV)

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13)

"...but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal" (1 Corinthians 13:1) 

"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44)

And still many verses that can define, and emphasize the importance of love in our life. 
About what kind of love that we need to share ? How far should we love or what is the borderline of it ?

Before we talk about this further, let's see the types of love:

* Eros	Love that is based on biological factors of human being, romantic feeling, or intimacy that most of the time based on (sorry) sexual desire.
* Storge	Love that is within siblings/family relationship.
* Phileo	Love that is based on emotional, towards something that match on your preference. For example: love towards friends, bestfriends, etc.
* Agape	A pure love, which is given without any reasons, unconditional love.

As our commander, God had shown us the love that HE wants us to build and share towards OTHERS (exactly, a.k.a all people, includes our enemy). AGAPE love, the unconditional love.


Referring to John 3:16, it is written "...that whoever believes in Him..." (NIV)
It's clearly stated [whoever --> whosoever (KJV), 叫一切 (Mandarin)], not only for the people who live on that time, for the people with certain age, certain nations, etc. FOR ALL!!!

It's not easy. Yeah, totally not easy. As human being that is still live within our flesh, most of the time we need reasons to do something, to give something, also to love. Either (sorry) sexual desire, family relationship, or perhaps it's because we feel comfortable with that person.

Even Peter (Simon Peter) himself couldn't answer Jesus' question with "Agape" love. That's why Jesus change His 3rd question that caused Peter felt so sad.

(John 21:15-17 -- rewrite) :
Yesus: Simon son of John, do you love (Agape) me ?
Simon: Yes Lord, You know that I love (Phileo) You.
Yesus: Simon son of John, do you love (Agape) me ?
Simon: Yes Lord, You know that I love (Phileo) You.
Yesus: Simon son of John, do you love (Phileo) me ?
Simon: Yes Lord, You know that I love (Phileo) You.

Rather than thinking it is doable or not, I believe it is more important for us to reflect ourselves, whether we are willing or not to share Agape to EVERYONE. If God wants us to do it, I believe that HE Himself will make us capable to do so. That’s why let’s put aside all the reasons that discourage us to love others unconditionally including (sigh again) our enemy =)

The proof of our love for God is our obedience to the commands of God. (Our Daily Bread 11.03.2012)
