Dalam kitab Daniel pasal 3, diceritakan bagaimana Raja Nebukadnezar, raja daerah Babel, membuat untuk dirinya sendiri sebuah patung raksasa. Tidak cukup sampai disitu. Setelah patung tersebut selesai dibuat, ia memerintahkan seluruh rakyatnya untuk menyembah patung itu. Dalam kitab itu pula diceritakan bagaimana Sadrakh, Mesakh, dan Abednego menolak untuk menyembah patung tersebut.
OK, dalam topik kali ini saya tidak akan membahas bagaimana Allah menjaga ketiganya dari panasnya dapur api yang menjadi hukuman mereka. Tetapi dari cuplikan cerita pendek diatas, saya ingin mencoba mengulas tentang sikap dari Raja Nebukadnezar.
Dikarenakan tiga orang....ya...hanya tiga orang, yang tidak mau menyembah patung tersebut, Raja Nebukadnezar tidak mengindahkan ribuan (memang tidak tertulis jumlahnya, saya hanya main perkiraan saja) orang yang sudah mau menyembah patung tersebut.
Kalau kita mau berpikir dengan kepala dingin, apalah artinya 3 dari antara ribuan ?
Terlebih lagi ribuan orang yang rela menyembah patung tersebut adalah para wakil raja, para penguasa, para bupati, para penasihat negara, para bendahara, para hakim, para ahli hukum, dan semua kepala daerah. (ayat 2)
Orang-orang yang notabene jelas-jelas lebih berpangkat dan lebih terpandang daripada Sadrakh, Mesakh, dan Abednego yang hanya ditulis sebagai "orang yang diberikan pemerintahan atas wilayah Barat" (ayat 12)
Mari sekarang kita lihat diri kita sendiri. Bukankah kadang kita bertingkah seperti itu ?

Kembali saya ingin menuliskan satu kata favorit saya...BERSYUKUR
Yupes...bukankah kita seringkali seperti Raja Nebukadnezar dalam bersyukur ?
Kita seringkali lupa akan banyaknya berkat indah yang sudah kita terima dari Tuhan hanya karena satu atau dua masalah dalam hidup kita. Dan sialnya, karena alasan inilah, banyak dari antara kita justru tidak dapat menjadi kesaksian/berkat buat orang lain. Kalau kita tidak merasa cukup, bagaimana kita akan membagikan berkat-berkatNya dalam hidup kita. Cukup masuk akal bukan ?
Mari kita lakukan sebuah refleksi. Berapa umur anda ? Berapa kali anda dapat tersenyum, tertawa, atau bahkan terharu karena merasa senang ?
Itu semua anugerah yang sudah Tuhan berikan.
Satu lagi yang mungkin terlupakan...anda baru saja mendapatkan kesempatan hidup 10 menit untuk membaca blog ini...dan Tuhan masih memberi anda kesempatan untuk merasakan berkat itu, dan membagikannya kepada orang lain =)

Book of Daniel chapter 3 tells us how King Nebuchadnezzar, who was the King of Babylon, made a giant gold image of himself. When the gold image was finished, he called the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials to come to the dedication of the image he had set up, and then worship it. The book also describes that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to worship the statue.
OK, this time in the topic I won’t discuss on how God keeping these three from the blazing furnace. But from the short snippet story above, I want try to examine about the attitude of King Nebuchadnezzar.
Because of the three people ... Yes ... just three people, who do not want to worship the gold image, King Nebuchadnezzar does not heed the thousands (notes here, it’s not written there, I just play the estimate only) people who already want to worship his gold image.
If we want to think with a cool mind, what does it mean 3 among thousands?
What's more the thousands of people who willingly worship the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials (verse 2).
Those people in fact were clearly more popular and higher ranking than Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who is just "set over the affairs of the province of Babylon" (verse 12).
Let’s put that condition to our shoes. Sometimes we behave like that, aren’t we?

Again I want to write a single word of my favorite ...BE THANKFUL
Yupes ... aren't we often like King Nebuchadnezzar in thankful things?
We often forget wonderful blessings we already received from God just because one or two problems in our lives.
And unfortunately, for this reason, many of us just cannot be a witness/blessing for others.
If we don't feel grateful, how are we going to share the blessings to others? Is it quite reasonable right?
Let's do a reflection. How old are you? How many times you can smile, laugh, or even feel moved because of happiness?
It's all a gift from God.
Another thing that might be forgotten ... you just get a chance to live 10 minutes to read this blog ... and the Lord still give you a chance to feel the blessings, and share to others =)
