Satu pertanyaan unik diberikan ketika Pdt. Stefanus Theophilus berkotbah di gereja saya.

Menurut kalian, dunia ini diciptakan, untuk dinikmati keindahannya oleh siapa ? Apakah dunia ini diciptakanNya agar kita manusia bisa menikmati keindahannya ?

Mari kita coba pikirkan melalui beberapa ilustrasi berikut:

Seringkali kita melihat video/foto tentang keindahan alam bawah laut. Berbagai macam terumbu karang, maupun beraneka jenis ikan dengan bentuk dan warna yang indah. Satu hal yang cukup menarik untuk dipikirkan, jika pengambil gambar/video tersebut tidak pernah menyelam untuk melakukan tugas mereka, maka kita manusia tidak akan pernah tahu akan keberadaan benda-benda tersebut.

Jika kita tidak pernah mengetahui, bagaimana kita bisa menikmatinya bukan ??

Ilustrasi lainnya, mengenai tata galaksi yang ada di alam semesta ini. Berapa orang sih yang mengerti bahwa dunia ini hanya seperti butiran pasir, atau bahkan jauh lebih kecil daripada ukuran sebutir pasir bila dibandingkan dengan luas tata galaksi yang ada ?

Bolehlah saya memberanikan diri bahwa tidak sampai sepuluh persen dari jumlah manusia di bumi ini yang mampu mengerti kompleksitas akan susunan tata galaksi. Setuju ?

Nah, kalau tidak sampai sepuluh persen, apakah Tuhan itu tidak adil karena hanya mengungkapkan keindahan alam semesta ini hanya kepada sepuluh persen tersebut ?

Satu kesimpulan yang sampai saat ini saya yakini, yaitu bahwa dunia ini diciptakan oleh Tuhan, untuk dinikmati oleh diriNya sendiri. Hah ? Kok terkesan bahwa Allah itu egois ya ?

Juli 2012, sepasang sahabat saya baru saja melahirkan anak pertama mereka. Saya yakin kegembiraan saya tidak dapat dibandingkan dengan kegembiraan mereka. Terbukti bahwa hampir tiap hari mereka mengambil foto anak mereka dari berbagai pose. Tidak hanya disitu, mereka pun serasa tidak dapat terlalu lama untuk tidak menyentuh anak mereka. Well, sangat kelihatan bahwa mereka sangat menikmati "keindahan" akan anak mereka yang mereka "ciptakan" Lalu...apakah saya berhak untuk mengatakan bahwa mereka egois ? Hehehe....sudah mulai tersambung ya ?

Mari kita lihat dari segi Alkitabiah.
Alkitab menulis berulang kali dalam Kejadian pasal 1 bahwa "Allah melihat bahwa semuanya itu baik" Mulai dari ayat 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, hingga ditutup dengan "Maka Allah melihat segala yang diciptakan-Nya itu, sungguh amat baik" (ayat 31). Semua penilaian baik itu berdasarkan penilaian Allah.

Kalau kita sependapat dengan pemikiran diatas, mari kita mulai merubah hidup kita. Kita bagaikan seorang guru disekolah, yang diberi wewenang oleh para orang tua untuk mendapat hormat dan respek dari anak-anak mereka. Bukan untuk memperlakukan anak-anak tersebut dengan semau kita.
Kita hanya diberi wewenang untuk menaklukkan bumi (Kejadian 1: 28)

One unique question is given when the Rev. Stefanus Theophilus  preached at my church.

“In your opinion, for who the world was created to be enjoyed ?”  Is this world created for human beings so that we can enjoy the beauty ?

Let’s thinking through some of the following illustration:

We often see the beautiful videos or photos of the underwater. Such as various kinds of coral reefs, various species of fish with beautiful shapes and colors, and many more. One thing that quite interesting to think about is, if the video makers or photographers are never dive to perform their duties, then we will never know of the existence of such objects.

If we never find out, how can we enjoy it ?

Other illustration to help us understand more, it’s about the galaxies in the universe. How many people understand that the world is just like a grain of sand, or even much smaller than the size of a sand grain compared to the extensive system of galaxies out there ?

Then I venture that is barely ten percent of people on earth who can understand the complex layout of the galaxy. Agree ?

Well, if it’s barely ten percent, then God is unfair because He only reveals the beauty of the universe to those ten percent ?

One conclusion that I still believe till now is that the world was created by God to be enjoyed by Himself. It looks like God is so selfish, huh ?

July 2012, a friend of mine just gave birth to their first child. I believe my joy cannot be compared to theirs. They take plenty of photos of their child from a variety of poses, prove that their joy is so abundant and they are enjoying it. Not stop until that, they seem cannot apart for too long from their children. Well, it seems that they really enjoy the "beauty" of their child that they "created". So ... am I right to say that they are selfish ? Hehehe .... have you seen the connection now ?

Let’s see from the biblical terms.

Genesis chapter 1 repeats the sentence, "And God saw that it was good" so many times. Starting from verse 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, and close by the words, "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." (verse 31) All the “good judgment” is based on God’s point of view or valuation.

If we agree with the above ideas, let us begin to change our lives. We are like a school teacher, who is authorized by the parents to get respected from their children. And this given authorization is not for us to treat their children as we wish. Because like the bible said, we are only given the authority to subdue the earth (Genesis 1:28)
