To hear only is not enough

X dan Y akan menuju ke sebuah kota yang terletak di belakang sebuah bukit. Di tengah perjalanan, mereka memilih rute yang berbeda untuk melewati bukit tersebut. X memilih memutar lewat kanan, sedangkan Y memutar lewat sebelah kiri.

Ketika memutar bukit tersebut, sebuah badai topan menghantam daerah tersebut. Mobil keduanya pun terbalik, dan mereka berdua sama-sama terluka parah. X segera mengeluarkan HPnya, untuk meminta pertolongan ambulan terdekat. Segera sebuah mobil ambulan datang dan membawa X ke rumah sakit terdekat sehingga ia dapat terselamatkan. Sial bagi Y, karena ternyata HP nya tertinggal di rumah. Dapat ditebak, Y akhirnya mati karena tidak ada pertolongan.

Sebuah ilustrasi singkat untuk menggambarkan bagaimana keselamatan itu diberikan pada kita.

• Badai topan merupakan jeratan dosa di dunia ini
• Mobil ambulan merupakan Yesus Kristus, sebagai jalan satu-satunya yang dapat membawa kita kepada keselamatan
• HP merupakan berita keselamatan

Kenapa X akhirnya dapat tertolong ?

• Karena ia mau menggunakan HP nya untuk menelpon mobil ambulan yang kemudian membawanya ke rumah sakit
• Karena ia mau menerima berita keselamatan yang pernah ia dengar, dan mau memakainya untuk menerima Yesus

Kenapa Y tidak dapat tertolong ?

• Karena ia tidak mau menggunakan HP nya untuk menelpon mobil ambulan

***Eeh sebentar...di ilustrasi tersebut kan tertulis HP nya tertinggal ?

Betul...dari sini saya hanya ingin menggambarkan: Walaupun Y membawa HP nya, namun ia tidak mau menggunakan, dapat saya samakan dengan Y tidak membawa bukan ?
Sama seperti orang yang tidak pernah mendengarkan berita keselamatan (tidak membawa HP), ataupun tidak mau menerima (tidak mau menggunakan HP)...pada akhirnya sama saja ia tidak akan pernah menerima keselamatan tersebut.

Lalu, dapatkah kita mengatakan bahwa "Y tidak dapat tertolong karena tidak ada mobil ambulan ?"
Bukan salah mobil ambulannya bukan ? =)

Biarlah ilustrasi ini sedikit banyak dapat mengingatkan kita untuk lebih bersungguh-sungguh dalam menjalankan pelayanan misi/pengabaran Injil. Jangan sampai kita beranggapan bahwa tugas kita selesai bila orang tersebut sudah kita beritahu tentang berita keselamatan, namun kita harus melakukannya hingga orang tersebut menerima berita keselamatan itu untuk memanggil Yesus sebagai Juru Selamat pribadinya.


Tuhan Yesus memberkati

X and Y are heading to a town which is located behind the hill. Along the way, they chose a different route to get through the hill. X chooses the right pass, while Y chooses to take a turn through the left side.

When turning the hill, a typhoon hit the area. Both cars are overturned, and they both are seriously injured. X immediately uses his cell phone to call ambulance for help. Soon an ambulance comes and takes X to the nearest hospital so that he can be saved. Unfortunately for Y, he left his phone at home. As we can predict, Y eventually die because there is no help.

A brief illustration is to describe how safety was given to us.

• Typhoon is the bondage of sin in this world
• The ambulance is Jesus Christ, who is the only one that can bring us to salvation
• Hand phone is a message of salvation

Why X can eventually be helped ?

• Because he wants to use his phone to call an ambulance which then takes him to the hospital
• Because he is willing to accept the message of salvation that he ever heard, and want to use them to accept Jesus

Why Y cannot be helped ?

• Because he does not want to use his phone to call ambulance

***Eeh wait a minute ... It’s written in the illustration that he left his phone behind, isn’t it ?

Yes ... from here I just wanted to illustrate, although Y brings his phone, but he doesn’t want to use it, and I simply say he doesn’t carry it, because it’s pretty the same, isn’t it ?
Just like people who are never listen (do not carry the phone), or do not want to accept (do not want to use the phone) the good news of salvation. In the end, neither them will get the salvation.

Then, can we say that Y cannot be helped because there is no ambulance?
It’s not the fault of the ambulance, isn’t it  ? =)

Let the illustration little much or less reminds us to be more serious in doing the service mission or evangelism. Let’s not assume that our tasks are end when we tell people about the good news of salvation, because we have to do it until people whom we tell the good news are accept and call Jesus as savior in their hearts.
