Why me ??

"Wah, saya engga bisa..." Ini jawaban yang sering kita dengar di gereja, bila seseorang ditawari sebuah tugas pelayanan. Kalau saya boleh menarik ruang yang lebih luas dibalik alasan tersebut, saya bisa menemukan dua poin sebagai dasar jawaban tersebut:

• Perasaan minder (alias rendah diri -- baca arti di Wikipedia)
• Memang tidak mau/penolakan secara halus

Seringkali kita lupa bahwa segala bentuk pelayanan itu asalnya dari Tuhan, dan seharusnya menjadi suatu kebanggaan untuk mendapatkan kesempatan, "ditawari" untuk melayaniNya. Apapun bentuk pelayanan itu, semuanya sama berharga.

Coba kita lihat ilustrasi berikut. Ketika kita datang ke sebuah kebaktian di gereja, kita akan disambut oleh petugas penyambutan. Lalu kita duduk di ruang kebaktian, mengikuti jalannya ibadah yang dipimpin oleh Worship Leader, diiringi pemusik, dan didukung oleh petugas Backing Vocal. Kita menyanyi mengikuti tulisan yang ada di layar OHP (overhead projector) ataupun slide projector.

Apa yang terjadi seandainya petugas penyambutan dengan muka cemberut menyambut anda ? Lalu Worship Leader tidak dapat memimpin dengan baik, pemain musik sering melakukan kesalahan, Backing Vocal menyanyi dengan suara fals, petugas OHP atau projector sering terlambat atau bahkan salah menunjukkan lirik lagu. Semuanya berakibat sama. Kita tidak akan dapat mengikuti kebaktian dengan sepenuh hati dan akhirnya fokus kita yang seharusnya datang kepada hadiratNya tidak tercapai.

Ingatlah bahwa ketika kesempatan untuk melayani itu datang kepada kita, apapun bentuknya, itu adalah suatu kehormatan dari Tuhan sendiri. Ia telah memilih kita yang tidak sempurna, yang sebenarnya tidak layak, untuk ikut ambil bagian melayaniNya. Apakah mungkin ? Kita kan tidak layak ? Well...percayalah bahwa ketika Tuhan sendiri yang memilih kita, Ia sendiri yang akan memampukan kita. Lagipula, yang perlu kita lakukan hanyalah melakukan pelayanan itu dengan sepenuh hati untuk memuliakan namaNya.

Mari siapapun kita, dengan semangat melakukan tugas pelayanan itu, apapun bentuknya,  selagi kesempatan itu masih ada.

"Ermm…I think I cannot…" is a familiar answer that we often hear if someone is offered for taking part in services at church. In my personal opinion, I can conclude two main points as the common reasons for that answer:

• Feelings of inferiority (low self-confidence)
• The person doesn’t want it and  rejects the offer subtly

We often forget that all forms of ministry are come from God, and it should be an honor to get a chance, “offer” to serve, a chance to serve others. Whatever the form of services are equally precious in God’s eyes.

Let’s see the following illustration. When we come to a service, we are greeted by ushers. Then we sit in the sanctuary to start the service by a course of worship which led by the Worship Leader who is accompanied by musicians. They are supported by some Backing Vocals. We can sing along because there is someone who operates the overhead-projector so we can see the lyrics on the screen.

What will happen then if the ushers welcome you with a frown face?  How will it gonna affect you if the Worship Leader cannot lead well, while the music players often make mistakes, Backing Vocal singing falsely, or projector officers delayed or show the wrong slides of song? All of them will have the same result which is make us attending services without a vengeance, and finally our focus that supposed to come into His presence will cannot be achieved.

Remember, when the opportunity to serve is come to us, regardless of the kind of services are, serving is an honor that God gives to us. He has chosen us who are not perfect in the very first place and not decent enough to serve God. Is it possible? Are we deserve to serve Him? Well…believe that when God himself choose us, He will guide and enable us to do it right and till the end. Moreover, one thing that we need to know and do… is to be able do the services whole-heartedly to glorify the name of our Father only.

Let us do the services with full of spirit, whoever we are and whatever the services are, while the opportunity is still there.
